Description
The Marine Heaving Line is a lightweight line used to pass a messenger rope or initial connection between a vessel, tug or shore mooring team. Bright colours improve visibility during berthing, while a weighted monkey’s fist or approved soft throwing weight can provide controlled reach. Floating synthetic constructions are commonly selected for ease of recovery. Line diameter, length, material, colour, throwing weight, end loop, buoyancy, storage bag and restrictions on hard or unsafe weights should match the vessel’s mooring procedure.
